1 tea towel into 2 tops! (and a headband;)

We are going to make not 1 but 2 tops (plus a headband!) from one single tea towel!
Don't be afraid to pick your best/prettiest one, the tops are easy to make!:)
Needed a nice tea towel, matching thread, and a cord. Extra: maybe some rushing or lace or other trimming material, elastic, trimming will go faster with a sewing machine but it's doable by hand if you don't have one, and whatever you have or want to finish of the look:)

see? you can even dry the dishes on your top ;D

1nici tea towel tops
1. Cut the nonsense

Ok, let's start and cut this tea towel into some usable peaces. First a square, then a stroke and you will have a rectangle left. trim all the edges and follow the next instructions. Enjoy!

2. Strapless top
We basically create two tunnels with elastic inside. Try it on to see how tight you want it to be, then knot or sew the elastic together and hide in tunnel. You can always add a third tunnel or elastic from the side if it looks better (depends a lot on the length of the top!) or use a broad elastic material to go all around (see 6 squares into 6 tops - coming soon!)

3. Halter crop top version 1
Lay the square down in a diamond shape. sew the top a bit inside. Now sew two tunnels with cord or elastic inside (careful not to sew to the fabric!) on the sides leading to the top and on the bottom (to use as tunnel or pockets;). Depending on the length of the top and thereby the fit, its possible you want it to be longer. If so, use the stroke and attach as a tunnel on the bottom of the pockets-tunnel and make an elastic or cord go through, then knot or sew the elastic together and hide in tunnel. If not needed then leave the stroke and make a matching headband or bracelet!:)

4. Halter crop top version 2
Fold the top edges of the square to the 'almost' middle ( leave a tiny neckline space) Then either sew tunnels with cords like version 1 or attach a trimming or rushing material on top of the edges. Let them go on longer so they can also be used for closing up in the back:) simply tie them in the back or attach closing material and add whatever personality and/or embellishment you like.

5. Headband
Simple headband by folding and sewing the stroke (depending on how wide it is) in two (along the length) and attaching a peace of elastic at the ends of it:) With a tiny leftover you could even attach a bow or other shape on top of the headband or use the rushing/cord in there as well.

Enjoy! Have fun with it! Make a hundred of them! And please feel more then free to share your results on instagram #1nici_diy or on the 1nici facebook page.
